The European football giant announced it would square off with an A-League Men’s All Stars team at Sydney’s Stadium Australia on May 25 for a historic Australian visit.

Xavi Hernandez’s side will travel Down Under upon the completion of their season in Europe for a one-off tie against the All Stars side of the Australian League. The match will be played at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, on May 25.

It will be a historic occasion for the club, considering that no professional or amateur Barça side has ever played a game in any sport in Australia this far.

Following the announcement, Juli Guiu, the Vice-President of Marketing for FC Barcelona said:

“We are very happy to be able to announce this match in Australia today against the A-Leagues All Stars. This will be the first time the team visits this country, where Barça are generating great interest,” he said.

 

As confirmed by the club’s official website, Barcelona will play their first-ever match in Australia next month when they face A-League All Stars in a friendly encounter.

Barcelona’s La Liga season comes to a conclusion on May 22, when they play hosts to Villarreal at Camp Nou.

The trip to Australia and the game against the A-League All Stars will be a special occasion for Culers from Down Under who will get to watch the team live in action at the Accor Stadium which can house 80,000 spectators.
